You understand the sequencing of activities on a building construction project, and you know how to spot a problem that could impact safety, quality, schedule, or cost. Key responsibilities include:

- Proactively execute on all project administration tasks and functions ensuring project closeout includes complete documentation relevant to the project.
- Material takeoffs and estimate preparation for change orders to initial project scope as needed.
- Work closely with the Construction Manager and Site Superintendent to stay on top of changing plans, risks and issues related to each project and provide support to solve any issues that arise.
- Maintain project schedules and flag key deliverables for action to ensure schedule is not compromised.
- Communicate project information to multiple stakeholders including internal project team, sub-contractors, suppliers and government agencies.
- Use multiple technology platforms, track project data and produce progress reports throughout project lifecycle.

Qualifications:

- Degree or diploma in construction management, civil engineering, or construction trades certification.
- 2-5 years project coordination on full-cycle construction projects is considered an asset.
- High level of competence with technology is required with specific experience using ProCore preferred.
- Demonstrated abilities in scheduling and must be familiar with purchase orders, construction management documents and writing contracts.

Lead Hand

We are looking to immediately hire an experienced Lead Hand for commercial construction projects. The successful candidate has strong general construction knowledge and experience. You have successfully worked with trades and other stakeholders in planning, coordinating and safely executing the work in accordance with the contract documents, schedule, and budget. Working closely with the Site Superintendent and Project Manager you will be an important member of the project team.

This is a position with lots of growth potential with opportunity to develop into a Site Superintendent position.

Responsibilities:

- Read construction drawings and technical documents and ensure work is completed as per specifications and building code requirements.
- Evaluate quality of workmanship and product installation ensuring high standards of quality are met.
- Mentor, coach and provide hands on training to employees to create and maintain a thoroughly cross-trained team to allow for flexibility and timely response to project demands and timelines.
- Provide labour as required on construction projects.
- Take measurements and complete material/quantity take offs.
- Provide direction to our internal carpentry team when required to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Propose possible cost savings measures and identify potential construction problems.
- Coordinate and cooperate with sub-trades to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Maintain a safe job site and ensure that the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act are enforced.

Framing Carpenter

Duties and responsibilities:

• Wood blocking/backing, completing layout, building window frames, decks, railings, doors, staircases, and framing walls using raw materials or pre-constructed items
• Coordinate and cooperate with sub-trades to ensure efficiency and accuracy
• Evaluate quality of workmanship and product installation
• Ensure high standards of quality are met in each project
• Assist with general labor duties as required including but not limited to: snow removal or digging when necessary, loading and unloading material, clean-up and general maintenance
• Provide feedback on safe work procedures and report any safety concerns
• Maintain clean and appropriate work site environment

Qualifications & Skills:

• Trade school courses and certification are an asset as is carpentry experience
• WHMIS certification and willingness to attend First Aid training is required
• Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
• CSA-approved steel toed boots, and personal tool belt/tools are always needed. All other PPE provided
• Must be able to read technical documents and blueprints and other construction documents
• Familiarity with and following building code requirements is needed

Commercial Site Superintendent

We are seeking an experienced Site Superintendent for commercial construction projects.

The Site Superintendent is responsible for site oversight and execution of the project plan. The successful candidate must possess the knowledge, experience and confidence to engage and professionally interact with design professionals, consultants, safety advisors, and clients. They will will successfully direct sub-contractors and other construction related personnel in planning, coordinating and safely executing the work in accordance with the contract documents, schedule and budget. You will work closely with the Project Manager and fulfill an integral role on the project.

Primary duties:

- Assist in the preparation of the job schedule and manage the construction schedule to ensure milestones and project completion dates are met.
- Review project budgets, plans and specifications, and comment on the building design, scheduling, possible cost savings measures and potential construction problems.
- Assemble the job site office and equipment requirements.
- Contact, schedule and coordinate all subcontractors, suppliers and utilities.
- Participate in job site meetings and proactively discuss relevant project issues with the project team.
- Provide safety oversight ensuring adherence to company safety policies and NS Occupational Health and Safety Act & regulations.
- Maintain control and responsibility for the security and operation of project tools, equipment and assets.
- Control and monitor labour, material and equipment expenses.
